Daily Cuts - Russia: Winning allies in Africa

The Russia-Africa summit is taking place on 27 July in St Petersburg, Russia. Close to 50 African delegations will be attending the two-day summit, but only 17 of them are heads of state. The Kremlin blames the West for the poor figure... saying their interference prevented African leaders from actively participating in the forum. Daily Cuts - BRICS meeting in Johannesburg, but Putin on video

China's top diplomat Wang Yi was in Johannesburg for a meeting with BRICS members. Leaders from the other 4 member countries - Brazil, Russia, India and  South Africa. Russian President Vladimir Putin did not attend in person - but on video. A couple things on the agenda - security and expanding membership. Daily Cuts - Israel votes on the controversial judicial reform bill

The Knesset, or Israeli Parliament will be voting on the controversial judicial reform bill. This is the bill that would strip the Supreme Court of the power to declare government decisions “unreasonable,” But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not taking the lead in Parliament. He’s been hospitalised because of dehydration and has also been fitted with a pacemaker. Dr James Dorsey, Adjunct Senior Fellow, at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies tells Arnold and Nadirah why the bill was proposed.
