Daily Cuts - Grassroots leaders helping to fight scammers

In the first 6 months of this year, the number of scams and cybercrimes cases went up by almost 70% compared to the same period last year. Job scams, e-commerce scams, fake friend call scams, phishing scams and investment scams were the top five scam types. People’s Association is working with the Police and the Association of Information Security Professionals to fight scammers. They’re organising a series of Scam Awareness Workshops and Dialogues to upskill Grassroots Leaders. These Grassroots Leaders will then spread awareness to residents and the community. Yau Yong Feeh, Chairman of Zhenghua’s Community Emergency & Engagement Committee Council EXCO shares how this will be done.
