The Russia-Africa summit is taking place on 27 July in St Petersburg, Russia. Close to 50 African delegations will be attending the two-day summit, but only 17 of them are heads of state. The Kremlin blames the West for the poor figure... saying their interference prevented African leaders from actively participating in the forum. Daily Cuts - Are Xi's and Putin's G20 absence a setback for Modi?

The G20 Summit begins this weekend (9 - 10 September) in New Delhi, India. US President Joe Biden has arrived early. But missing from the meetings are China's Xi Jinping and Russia's Vladimir Putin. The outcome of the summit could also be seen as a reflection of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi's international standing, and influence how he's perceived at home. Yogesh Joshi, Research Fellow, Institute of South Asian Studies, NUS, tells us if their absence is a setback for his ambitions.

Daily Cuts - World Suicide Prevention Day: Creating hope through action

It’s World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday, 10 September. The theme this year: Creating hope through action. The World Health Organisation says there are more than 700 000 suicides per year worldwide. And here in Singapore, Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) says suicides rose nearly 26 percent last year to their highest level in more than two decades. Charlene Heng, Deputy Director for Training and Development, SOS, tells us what action needs to be taken to give hope to those in despair.

Daily Cuts - Growing inclusivity, creativity, and vibrancy in Singapore's art scene

The National Arts Council wants to better connect artists and Singaporeans. As part of the "Our SG Arts Plan", they have launched a new online platform called, ‘catch.sg’ This is where artists and partners will list their upcoming shows. NAC has also launched a new masterplan for the next 5 years to help those in the arts scene to upskill and grow.
