Daily Cuts - Strengthening Singapore's anti-money laundering regime and fighting against sophisticated crimes

The money laundering case has been taking over local and international headlines. Over $2.8 billion worth of assets are now involved. But investigations are ongoing, so that number could go up. Second Minister for Home Affairs Josephine Teo says this could be one of the largest anti-money laundering operations in the world. There will also be a new inter-ministerial committee to review Singapore's anti-money laundering regime and to ensure it stays up to date with increasingly sophisticated crimes. Professor Sumit Agarwal from NUS Business School explains how the new committee can help mitigate financial crimes.

Daily Cuts - Candidates announced for Indonesia's Presidential election

Candidates for Indonesia’s presidency and vice-presidency have been announced with a three-cornered fight taking place – the first in 15 years. It’s been more than a year since the ‘Forward Singapore’ exercise was launched. And the goal is to "review and refresh Singapore's social compact". One way the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) is contributing to this renewed social compact is to ensure preschoolers will get a smoother transition to formal schooling. They will also be starting active ageing centres by 2025 to help the elderly. Angela Yang, Director, Professional & Education Development at PCF explains what kind of transition do our preschoolers need to prepare for.
