Former national sailor Nicholas de Cruz won the World Champs 2006 and went on to clinch a place at the world’s best university for sports science. Passion though, and even sheer “mugging” wasn’t enough to do well there, and it took a lot of persistence and some “stalking” before he tasted success. Now a psychology lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and developmental coach with the Singapore Sailing Federation, Dr de Cruz explains the link between sports and psychology.

SG Stories - S1E8: Anitha Devi Pillai, author, poet, and applied linguist

Anitha Devi Pillai is an author, poet, applied linguist and educator at the National Institute of Education, whose poems have made their way to classrooms around the world. Her literary flair could have come from her mother, who wrote the historical work titled “Sembawang: A Novel (2020)” — a finalist for the Singapore Book Publishers Association’s Best Literary Work 2021, as well as the Singapore History Prize organised by the National University of Singapore.
