The worst of the COVID-19 pandemic was a good time for Singapore to restructure and reduce its over-reliance on foreign workers, but nothing major was done other than the tightening of quotas and tweaks to work pass requirements, said NCMP Hazel Poa in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2). She asked how the Ministry of Manpower would ensure a balance between the local and foreign workforce, and how it would prevent a recurrence of an outbreak of contagious diseases in worker dormitories.
