Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Sylvia Lim on staggered entry of foreign workers

Employers seeking entry or re-entry of their foreign workers to Singapore have to apply for slots on specific dates. This is to stagger the entry of workers from abroad to reduce the risk of imported COVID-19 cases. MP Sylvia Lim asked for clarity on the number of slots available each day and how they are allocated. She said the process has caused confusion and uncertainty for employers, some of whom have been unable to plan the resumption of key infrastructure projects. Ms Lim was speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2).
