10 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, with 5 imported and 1 in the community
SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 10 new cases of Covid-19, including five that are imported and one that is in the community. The remaining four are linked to migrant workers staying in dormitories.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Friday (Oct 2) that all of the fresh cases have no symptoms.
The one community case is a 33-year-old work permit holder from India with no known links to past infections or clusters.
He was detected as a result of the ministry’s Rostered Routine Testing of workers in the construction, marine and process sectors who are living outside dormitories.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the past 14 days.

The five imported cases comprise one Singaporean, one permanent resident, one work permit holder, one dependant’s pass holder and one short-term visit pass holder who arrived from India and Indonesia between Sept 16 and 20.
MOH said that the five were placed on 14-day stay-home notices and tested positive while serving their notices at dedicated facilities.
Of the four new cases involving migrant workers in dormitories, one had been identified earlier as a contact of previous cases.
The remaining three were detected through surveillance testing, such as Rostered Routine Testing and the testing of those with acute respiratory infection symptoms.
UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,794.
Of these, 57,534 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 22 on Friday.
There are still 48 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.
Another 185 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
