10 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, with 7 imported cases and 3 locally transmitted
SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 10 new cases of Covid-19 infection, of which three were locally transmitted.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Sunday (Oct 11) that all three reside in dormitories and there is no case in the community.
In addition, there are seven imported cases who had all been placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.
"All new cases today are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance," MOH said.
Among the three cases residing in dormitories, two had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases and had already been quarantined.
The remaining case was detected through the bi-weekly rostered routine testing of workers staying in dormitories, MOH said.
Of the seven imported cases, two are Singapore permanent residents who returned from Indonesia.
Another three are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Malaysia and the Philippines.
The remaining two cases are dependant’s pass holders who arrived from the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
MOH said that overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from an average of two cases per day in the week before, to an average of one per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from an average of one per day in the week before, to none in the past week.
Singapore's tally now stands at 57,876.
Seven more patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing the total who have full recovered to 57,705.
There are 44 patients who are still in hospital. Most are stable or improving, with one patient in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Another 100 with mild symptoms, or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated at community facilities. Twenty-seven have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
