10 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, all imported

SINGAPORE — Singapore on Wednesday (March 10) reported 10 new imported cases of Covid-19. There are no cases in the wider community.

In its update on the coronavirus situation here, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that all of the cases had been placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival here and were tested while serving quarantine.

They are:

• Two permanent residents who returned from India and Turkey

  One dependant’s pass holder who came from India

• Four work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines — two of whom are foreign domestic workers

• Three short-term visit pass holders. One of them had arrived from Indonesia for a work project here, while the other two came from India and Indonesia to visit their relatives who are permanent residents

UPDATE ON REMAINING CASES

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from four in the week before to two in the past week, said MOH.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has also gone down from four in the week before to one in the past week.

The total number of infections in Singapore is now 60,062.

Of these, 59,911 people have fully recovered and been discharged, including six on Wednesday.

There are still 25 patients in hospitals.

“Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit,” MOH said.

Another 97 patients are isolated at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-nine people have died from complications due to the disease.
