SINGAPORE — Three Covid-19 patients who are in intensive care units (ICUs) are all above the age of 60, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said. The ministry revised its nightly update on the Covid-19 situation here from Tuesday (June 29) to report more on infected people’s vaccination status and those who are in critical condition and need special treatments.

It also said that another 11 people require supplemental oxygen. Of these, six are above the age of 60, four are aged between 40 and 60, and one is between 19 and 39 years old.

All 14 cases above have not been vaccinated against Covid-19, MOH said.

The 14 are part of 129 patients who are warded in hospitals.

MOH said that the national Covid-19 task force has changed the format of its daily reporting of Covid-19 figures in the press releases the ministry issues, as the country moves to “a new phase of battling the pandemic, with a strong focus on preventing the virus from spreading, vaccinating our population and starting the process to transit to a new normal”.

Besides the daily numbers, MOH will include information on the key trends of the situation here, the clusters it is monitoring, the progress of the voluntary national vaccination programme as well as the number of people who suffer a severe form of the disease.

MOH will no longer release the list of public places that have been visited by Covid-19 cases while they were infectious. It will also not provide details of each case detected in the community, such as the person's age, occupation and when the person tested positive.

Earlier on Tuesday, the ministry announced that there were five new locally transmitted infections and all have been traced to earlier cases.

Of the five, four have already been placed on quarantine while the fifth was detected through surveillance testing.

There were also five imported cases — four of them were detected upon their arrival here while the fifth developed illness during isolation or while serving a stay-home-notice.

Overall, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the community has fallen from 104 in the week before to 76 in the past week.

The number of cases with no known sources of infection in the community has dropped slightly from 17 in the week before to 12 in the past week.

The average number of all linked community cases was 9.1 (a seven-day moving average) and of all unlinked community cases was 1.7, MOH said.

CLUSTERS

There are now 34 active Covid-19 clusters in Singapore as of Tuesday.

Three more cases were added to the cluster at Changi General Hospital, which has 13 infections.

One case each was added to the cluster at Block 105 Henderson Crescent and to the cluster linked to an 81-year-old male Singaporean retiree.

VACCINATIONS

Some 5.38 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given to about 3.28 million people.

Close to 2.1 million people have received their second dose and completed the full vaccination regimen.
