11 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore, including 1 in dormitory
SINGAPORE — Singapore on Sunday (Feb 28) registered 11 new cases of Covid-19, including one locally transmitted infection involving a resident in a foreign worker dormitory.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that there were no new cases in the community.
In addition, there were 10 imported cases, who had already been placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.
All 11 cases had no symptoms.
The sole case of local transmission is a 31-year-old Bangladeshi man who works as a delivery assistant at Chng Woodworking, and resides in a dormitory located at Kranji Way.
His job entails loading and unloading of goods, and he does not interact with clients, MOH said.
The man was tested for Covid-19 on Feb 26, which returned positive.
His serological test result has come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection.
He is linked to a previous case, a 35-year-old male Bangladeshi who worked and stayed at the same places as him.
Among the 10 imported cases:
One is a dependant’s pass holder who came from Switzerland
Four are long-term visit pass holders who arrived from India and Myanmar
Four are work pass holders who came from India and the Philippines
One is a work permit holder who arrived from India
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has jumped from one case in the week before to four in the past week, MOH said.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from one case in the week before to two in the past week.
