117 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in Singapore, including 46 linked to Jurong Fishery Port cluster and 5 traced to KTV clubs

SINGAPORE — Singapore on Sunday (July 25) recorded 117 new locally transmitted cases of Covid-19, 46 of which have been traced to the cluster at the Jurong Fishery Port and another five to karaoke lounges and clubs.

The total number of cases linked to the Jurong Fishery Port cluster is now 792 and the total from KTV lounges is 237.

Thirty-eight of the community cases have not been linked to any previous infections, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its preliminary update on Sunday evening.

Of the 117 cases, 43 were linked to previous infections and had already been placed on quarantine. Another 36 linked to previous cases were detected through surveillance testing, MOH said.

Among the cases are two seniors aged above 70 who are not vaccinated or partially vaccinated and are at risk of serious illness.

The 117 locally transmitted cases were among a total of 125 new Covid-19 cases preliminarily confirmed on Sunday, MOH said.

The remaining eight were imported cases and had been placed on stay-home notices or isolated on arrival in Singapore.

Four were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while the other four developed the illness during their quarantine period.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore is now 64,179.

PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL

A total of 524 cases are currently warded in hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.

There are 12 patients who are seriously ill and require supplemental oxygen, and two in critical condition under intensive care. None among these 14 cases is fully vaccinated.

Seven people aged above 60, who are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill, MOH said.

Over the last 28 days, 15 local cases required supplemental oxygen, were admitted to intensive care units or died. Six were unvaccinated, nine were partially vaccinated and none was fully vaccinated.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has jumped from 324 in the week before to 1,056 in the past week.

The number of unlinked community cases has also increased from 24 in the week before to 136 in the past week.

NEW CLUSTERS

There were two new clusters reported on Sunday, linked to Case 65893 and Case 65846. MOH did not provide details of these cases.

In total, there are 25 active clusters, ranging between three and 792 infections.

Three clusters were closed: 115 Bukit Merah View Market and Food Centre, 119 Bukit Merah View and one linked to an 81-year-old Singaporean man who is a retiree.

VACCINATIONS

As of Saturday, about 7.1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme, covering more than 4.2 million individuals.

About three million people have completed the full vaccination regimen, consisting of 120,364 recovered persons who received at least one dose and about 2.9 million who received their second dose.

In addition, 82,422 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered, covering 67,743 people.
