12 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, all imported

SINGAPORE — Singapore on Monday (March 15) reported 12 new imported cases of Covid-19. There were no cases in the wider community.

In its update on the coronavirus situation here, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that all 12 cases had been placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival here and were tested while serving quarantine.

They are:

• Two permanent residents who returned from India and Malaysia

  Two dependant’s pass holders who arrived from Nepal and Switzerland

• Three work pass holders who came from India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates

• Five work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and the Philippines — three of whom are foreign domestic workers

UPDATE ON REMAINING CASES

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from four in the week before to two in the past week, MOH said.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has also gone down from three in the week before to two in the past week.

The total number of infections in Singapore is now 60,117.

Of these, 59,974 people have fully recovered and been discharged, including six on Monday.

There are still 20 patients in hospitals.

“Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit,” MOH said.

Another 93 patients are isolated at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Thirty people have died from complications due to the disease.
