12 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, all imported
SINGAPORE — Singapore on Sunday (Nov 22) reported 12 new cases of Covid-19, all of which were imported.
There were no cases in the wider community for the 12th day in a row.
Sunday marked the first time since Nov 13 — when there were 12 cases — that the number of fresh infections went into double digits.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said the 12 imported cases had already been placed on stay-home notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. All were asymptomatic.
Three of them are Singapore permanent residents who returned from India.
Five are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from the Philippines and Indonesia.
There is also a dependant’s pass holder and a student’s pass holder who both arrived from India.
The remaining two cases are ship crew of separate vessels.
One arrived from Indonesia to board a ship docked here.
The other is a crew member of a ship which arrived from the Philippines. He had not disembarked from the ship where he had remained isolated, and was swabbed on board, MOH said.
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 58,160.
In all, 58,067 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including three on Sunday.
There are currently 26 patients who are still in hospital. Most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Another 39 with mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated at community facilities.
Twenty-eight people have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
