13 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore, all imported

There were no locally-transmitted cases of Covid-19 infection on Thursday (Dec 24).

SINGAPORE — There were 13 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Thursday (Dec 24), all of which were imported, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

There are no new cases of locally transmitted infection.

All 13 imported cases had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

MOH said amongst the new cases, 12 were asymptomatic, and were detected from proactive screening and surveillance, while one was symptomatic.

Amongst the 13 imported cases, one is a Singaporean and another is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from the United States and United Kingdom respectively.

Another eight are work permit holders who arrived from Indonesia, India, the Philippines and Sri Lanka, including seven foreign domestic workers.

The remaining cases are two student’s pass holders and a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from India. 

UPDATE ON CONDITION OF CONFIRMED CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 58,495.

Ten more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 58,332 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 36 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. Another 98 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

So far, 29 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
