15 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, including 5 imported; no new cases in community
SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 15 new cases of Covid-19, of which five are imported.
There are no new cases in the community, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Sunday (Sept 27).
Among the new patients, 14 are asymptomatic, and were detected from the authorities' proactive screening and surveillance routines.
Two of the five imported cases are permanent residents who returned to Singapore from India on Sept 15 and 25. The remaining three are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Indonesia and the Philippines on Sept 15.
All had been placed on 14-day stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore now stands at 57,700.
MOH said that overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of fewer than one case per day in the past two weeks, the same with unlinked community cases.
Among the 10 cases residing in dormitories, six had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases, and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission. They were tested during quarantine to determine their status.
The remaining four cases were detected through surveillance testing, which includes the bi-weekly rostered routine testing for workers staying in dormitories.
Eight more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities as of noon on Sunday, bringing the total that have fully recovered to 57,367.
There are currently 31 confirmed patients who are still in hospital. Most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.
Another 275 with mild symptoms, or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated at community facilities. Twenty-seven have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
