17 F&B outlets suspended, fined for Covid-19 breaches after stricter checks over CNY
Stall 8 at Food Park Coffeeshop on Bedok South Avenue 3 broke rules to allow diners to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on Feb 14, 2021.
- Four eateries have been suspended and 13 others fined for Covid-19 breaches
- 234 people were also fined for flouting the rules over the last two weekends
- The authorities will step up checks on Feb 27 and 28
SINGAPORE — With the authorities pressing ahead with stricter checks to ensure compliance with Covid-19 regulations during the Chinese New Year period, four more eateries have been suspended and 13 outlets fined for breaking the rules.
The Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) said on Wednesday (Feb 24) that at parks and beaches, 234 people were also given fines for flouting the regulations.
EATERIES SUSPENDED
The four food-and-beverage (F&B) outlets that were suspended are:
1. Club One Min on Orchard Road
The outlet, a second-time offender, allowed gatherings of more than eight people and had hostesses who intermingled with patrons last Friday.
Gatherings of more than eight people are banned in Singapore to combat Covid-19.
The authorities ordered the operator to shut from last Saturday to March 11.
It was previously suspended from Dec 20 to 29 last year for having groups of more than eight people.
2. Stall 8 at Food Park Coffeeshop on Bedok South Avenue 3
The stall allowed diners to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on Feb 14.
The Government directed the stall operator to close from last Friday to this Sunday.
3. Jin Jin Eating House on North Bridge Road
The eatery let diners consume alcohol after 10.30pm last Friday.
The outlet has to close from Tuesday to next Thursday.
4. 200 HCM Food on Joo Chiat Road
The eatery allowed diners to consume alcohol after 10.30pm last Saturday.
It will have to close from Tuesday to next Thursday.
OTHER F&B OPERATORS, INDIVIDUALS FINED
Thirteen other F&B outlets were each fined S$1,000 for breaches that involved seating groups of diners less than 1m apart and failing to prevent intermingling between groups of customers.
They are:
Yayoi Japanese Teishoku Restaurant at Waterway Point mall in Punggol
Kuriya Japanese Market at Waterway Point
Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh at Waterway Point
Shi Li Fang hotpot restaurant at Orchard Central mall
Foresta Restaurant at The Grandstand mall on Turf Club Road
Steak Me Restaurant at Jalan Kayu near Seletar
Kopi Breweries on Jurong West Street 91
Donpachi Sake Bar at Cuppage Plaza on Orchard Road
Lluvia bar on Telok Ayer Street
Three’s A Crowd Cafe on Race Course Road
Basil Thai Kitchen at Paragon mall on Orchard Road
Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck restaurant at Paragon
East Ocean Teochew Restaurant at Ngee Ann City mall on Orchard Road
As for the 234 people who were caught flouting the rules at parks and beaches run by the National Parks Board, they were fined S$300 each over the last two weekends.
They included people who were in groups of more than eight and there was intermingling between groups. At Changi Beach Park alone, 76 people were fined, including 20 who were caught in a group.
STAY VIGILANT
MSE said that social interactions are likely to increase as the festive period ends, especially on the 15th day of Chinese New Year on Friday.
This will raise the risk of Covid-19 transmission in the community.
MSE urged the public and business operators to remain vigilant and continue observing precautions against the coronavirus.
This weekend, government agencies will continue increasing enforcement checks at F&B premises, parks, malls and other hot spots, the ministry said.
“We will not hesitate to take firm enforcement action against errant operators and individuals.”
