17 injured in accident involving two lorries and a bus on AYE

SINGAPORE — A morning peak hour accident involving two lorries and a private bus on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) left 17 people injured Thursday morning (June 23).

The accident happened around 7.15am on the AYE towards the city, before the Clementi Ave 6 exit. Nine of the casualties were sent to the National University Hospital, while the rest were conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

TODAY understands that the 17 casualties suffered minor injuries, and were all passengers on one of the lorries.

Both SCDF and the police were alerted to the incident and one fire engine, three ambulances and one support vehicle were dispatched to the scene.

Police say investigations are ongoing into the cause of the accident.
