2 more deaths from Covid-19 in Singapore, bringing death toll to 20
One of the deceased is a 97-year-old Singaporean woman, identified as Case 1,414, who was treated at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported two more deaths from Covid-19 in Singapore on Wednesday (May 6), taking the death toll to 20.
Both the deceased are senior citizens with a history of illnesses.
One is a 97-year-old Singaporean woman, identified as Case 1,414, who died on Tuesday night. She was confirmed to be infected on April 7 and is linked to the cluster at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home.
She had a history of hypertension, MOH said.
“The National Centre for Infectious Diseases has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them,” the ministry added.
The second victim, Case 1,528, is a 73-year-old Singaporean man who died on Wednesday. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on April 7 and is linked to the cluster at Mustafa Centre in Little India.
He had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes mellitus.
The Singapore General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending help to them, MOH said.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore rose to 20,198 on Wednesday. There are 1,462 patients who are still in hospitals, with 23 of them in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
