200 stations to charge mobile devices by end of the year

SINGAPORE — Ditch those bulky portable chargers. You can now charge your mobile devices at about 200 stations in high-traffic locations island wide for free.

A joint SG50 initiative led by Singapore Power, together with SingHealth, National Library Board, NTUC FairPrice and various tertiary institutions, the charging stations will be rolled out at a number of hospitals, libraries, schools and FairPrice supermarkets.

Each station has 10 charging slots that will cater to most mobile devices, as well as a generic USB port.

The first 20 stations will be installed by mid-August, with about 40 additional stations introduced every month. All 200 stations are expected to be installed by the end of the year.

NTUC FairPrice Chief Executive Officer Seah Kian Peng said: “Mobile devices have become an integral part of our daily lives and NTUC FairPrice understands the needs of our customers who may require a quick charge-up for their mobile devices.”
