29 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, all imported
SINGAPORE — Singapore reported 29 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday (Jan 31), all of them imported.
All the cases had no symptoms, and had already been placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health said.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 15 cases in the week before to three in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also dipped from three cases in the week before to two in the past week.
Among the 29 imported cases:
One is a Singaporean and three are permanent residents who returned from India and the United Kingdom
Two came from Nigeria, one of them a dependant’s pass holder and the other a long-term visit pass holder
One is a student’s pass holder who arrived from India
Four are work pass holders who came from India, Myanmar, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates
Thirteen are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Myanmar, of whom six are foreign domestic workers
Five are short-term visit pass holders who came from India, Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines
UPDATE ON CONDITION OF CONFIRMED CASES
The total number of Covid-19 infections in Singapore stands at 59,536, of which 59,228 have fully recovered, including the 32 discharged on Sunday.
There are currently 44 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.
Another 235 with mild symptoms, or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated at community facilities.
There have been 29 deaths due to coronavirus infection.
