3 arrested for wrecking Teochew porridge restaurant in drunken rage

SINGAPORE – Two men and a woman were arrested for their suspected involvement in wrecking a Teochew porridge restaurant at Upper Serangoon Road, police said in a news release on Tuesday (May 30).
TODAY understands that the trio, aged between 40 and 53, were the drunk customers of the Heng Long Teochew Porridge restaurant, when they threw and damaged items in the early hours of Saturday (May 27) morning at the eatery.
CCTV footage showed two men tossing food onto the floor, while throwing items around. They had also used chairs to smash apart a glass partition of a counter where the restaurant’s dishes were displayed.
Shin Min Daily News had reported that the trio were upset over their S$28 bill.
The police said that they had received a report regarding the incident on Saturday morning. The police established their identities and arrested them over two days.
Two of the suspects will be charged in court on Wednesday for the offence of Rash Act with Common Intention, and for Mischief.
If convicted for Rash Act, the suspects will be punished with imprisonment of up to six months, and/or a fine of up to S$2,500. If convicted for the offence of Mischief causing damages of more than S$500, the suspects will be punished with jail of up two years and/or a fine.
