38 individuals who are not fully vaccinated caught dining at hawker centres: NEA
Since Oct 13, 2021, only fully vaccinated people have been allowed to dine out at hawker centres and coffee shops.
SINGAPORE — Thirty-eight partially vaccinated or unvaccinated people were caught dining out at hawker centres between Oct 20 and Oct 26.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 28) that the diners had their particulars taken down but did not elaborate on the penalties they face.
TODAY has asked NEA for details on the penalties.
Since Oct 13, only fully vaccinated people have been allowed to dine out at hawker centres and coffee shops. Those who are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated may enter hawker centres and coffee shops only to buy food for takeaway.
The authorities gave diners between Oct 13 and 19 to adjust to the new regulations aimed at protecting the unvaccinated population and to reduce the strain on the healthcare system.
“We all have a part to play in protecting ourselves and people around us. If you’re not vaccinated, please take away your food instead of dining in,” NEA said.
It added that enforcement action was also taken against 41 diners found to have breached Covid-19 safety rules at hawker centres.
Offences included gathering in groups of more than two, not wearing masks properly and not maintaining a safe distance of at least 1m.
