In a statement on Wednesday, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a road traffic accident near 345 Geylang Road at around 1.05am earlier that day.

The police said in a separate statement on Wednesday that the accident involved a car colliding into the rear of a taxi and subsequently hitting a shop front along 345 Geylang Road.

The 43-year-old car driver was arrested for suspected drink-driving and careless driving causing hurt, said the police, adding that the 32-year-old male shop assistant was conscious when taken to the hospital.

Videos circulating on TikTok show a black car crashed into the front of a store, with the vehicle appearing to have sustained significant damage to its front.
