49 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, including 8 imported cases and 1 in the community
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday (Sept 13) reported 49 new cases of Covid-19, 47 of which were asymptomatic.
The new cases comprise eight that were imported, one community infection and 40 migrant workers staying in dormitories.
The sole community case is a 42-year-old work permit holder from India.
Among the eight imported cases, one is a Singaporean and one is a permanent resident. Both returned from India on Sept 5 and 10, respectively.
Another four are work permit holders who arrived from the Philippines on Aug 30 August. The other two cases are dependant’s pass holders who arrived from India and the United States on Aug 30.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of two cases per day in the week before, to an average of one per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of two cases per day in the week before, to an average of one per day in the past week.
Singapore's tally now stands at 57,406.
Meanwhile, 65 more patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing the total of those who have fully recoved to 56,764.
There are 60 patients who are still in hospital, and none is in the intensive care unit.
Another 555 people who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive, are isolated at community facilities.
Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
