5 arrested, S$66,000 worth of drugs seized in CNB raids

SINGAPORE — Five Singaporeans were arrested and drugs estimated to be worth almost S$66,000 were seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Wednesday (Jan 5).
The suspects are four men aged between 61 and 65 and a 65-year-old woman.
The police seized 932g of heroin and 5g of methamphetamine, also known as "ice".
The heroin seized could feed the addiction of about 440 abusers for a week, CNB said in a news release on Thursday.
One of the men, aged 61, was arrested near Tampines Street 22 on Wednesday morning.
A total of 17 packets and one straw containing a total of 132g of heroin were recovered from him. Another 6g of heroin was seized from his home near Chua Chu Kang.
In a follow-up operation the same morning, three men and one woman were arrested at a residential unit near North Bridge Road.
Coffee packets containing heroin were recovered from a toilet bowl in the unit and a rubbish chute nearby. A total of 100 packets and 10 straws containing a total of 794g of heroin were seized. A packet containing 5g of "ice" was also recovered.
Investigations are ongoing.
