6 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, all imported

SINGAPORE — Singapore on Tuesday (March 9) reported six new imported cases of Covid-19. There are no cases in the wider community.

In its update on the coronavirus situation here, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that all of the six cases had been placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival here and were tested while serving quarantine.

They are:

  Two work pass holders who arrived from France and Italy

• One work permit holder who came from Indonesia and is a foreign domestic worker

• Two short-term visit pass holders who arrived from India and the United Kingdom to visit their relatives who are permanent residents here

UPDATE ON REMAINING CASES

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone up slightly from three in the week before to four in the past week, said MOH.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has also gone up from two in the week before to three in the past week.

The total number of infections in Singapore is now 60,052.

Of these, 59,905 people have fully recovered and been discharged, including five on Tuesday.

There are still 21 patients in hospitals.

“Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit,” said MOH.

Another 97 patients are isolated at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-nine people have died from complications due to the disease.
