64-year-old S'porean man dies of Covid-19 complications; first tested positive in Indonesia
The 64-year-old Singaporean man who died from complications due to Covid-19 had been receiving treatment at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
SINGAPORE — A 64-year-old Singaporean man died from complications due to Covid-19 on Friday (Feb 26), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
The man, who had been living in Indonesia from March last year, had a history of hyperlipidaemia, a medical term for disorders caused by extra fats or lipids in the blood.
MOH said on Saturday that the man tested positive for the coronavirus on Jan 26 in Indonesia and was hospitalised there the next day.
He was on Jan 29 medically evacuated to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases in Singapore for treatment and his test done here the next day also came back positive for Covid-19.
NCID has reached out to his family and is extending help to them, MOH said.
As the man was already a registered overseas case, he was excluded from Singapore’s Covid-19 case tally and fatality count.
Singapore has had 29 deaths resulting from complications due to Covid-19.
The city-state reported 12 new virus cases on Saturday, all of them imported. Singapore’s coronavirus total is now 59,925.
