68 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, including 2 imported cases; no new cases in the community
SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 68 new cases of Covid-19, including two that are imported and 66 that are migrant workers staying in dormitories.
There are no cases in the community, making it the third time since Aug 14 that no infections were reported.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its press release on Thursday (Aug 20) that the two imported cases are a Singaporean and a permanent resident who had returned from India on Aug 6 and Aug 8.
They had been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice and tested positive while serving their notices at dedicated facilities.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of two cases a day in the week before to an average of one a day in the past week.
The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the past 14 days.
“We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme,” MOH said.
There were also no new locations added to MOH’s list of places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were infectious.
Two more migrant worker dormitories have been cleared of the disease and now house only recovered individuals and those who have recently tested negative for the coronavirus. They are no longer classified as a cluster.

UPDATES ON THE REMAINING CASES
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 56,099.
Of these, 53,119 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 309 on Thursday.
There are still 75 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.
Another 2,878 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
