7 imported cases among 136 new Covid-19 patients in Singapore
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 136 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Sunday (July 5), seven of which were imported.
Of the seven imported cases, four returned to Singapore from India on June 23 and one on June 20. The remaining two cases returned from Yemen on June 24.
Two of them are Singaporeans, two are permanent residents, two are long-term visit pass holders and one is a dependant’s pass holder.
MOH said that all of them had been placed on 14-day stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving the notice.
Apart from the seven, there were 18 community cases comprising five Singaporeans, one permanent resident, seven from Bangladesh, two from China, two from India and one from the Philippines.
Ten of the community cases are linked to previous cases or clusters.
The rest of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore now stands at 44,800.
MOH said that overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of seven cases per day in the week before to 10 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also risen, from an average of three cases per day in the week before to five per day in the past week.
A total of 324 patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 40,441 have fully recovered.
There are currently 212 who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and two are in critical condition.
Twenty-six have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
