71-year-old woman taken to hospital after four-vehicle crash at Clementi Road junction

SINGAPORE —  A 71-year-old woman was taken to hospital after an accident on Friday (Sept 11) morning involving four vehicles at the junction of Ulu Pandan Road and Clementi Road.

The police told TODAY that they were alerted to the accident involving a taxi, two cars and a lorry at 9.11am. 

“A 71-year-old female car driver was conscious when conveyed to National University Hospital,” they said. Investigations are under way. 

A spokesperson for taxi company Trans-Cab confirmed that its taxi was involved in the accident.

In a statement given to the compnay after the accident occurred, the taxi driver said that he “felt a hard impact from the left side” of his vehicle, causing the airbag to be activated.

“Together with my passenger, we came out of the vehicle in a state of shock,” he said.

“When I felt a bit better, I asked my passenger about her condition and she informed me she was fine,” the taxi driver said, adding that he also told the Traffic Police that he was fine despite having redness on his forearms.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said that it was alerted to the crash around 9.15am. 

A photo of the accident surfaced online more than two hours after it happened. Showing the scene of the accident, it has since been shared widely on social media,
