753 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, tally stands at 22,460

SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 753 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases here to 22,460, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Saturday (May 9).

In a press release, MOH said that nine more clusters of infections have emerged. These are located at 3 Buroh Lane, 9 Defu South Street 1, 44 Kaki Bukit Industrial Terrace, 45 Kaki Bukit Place, 20 Kranji Road, 2 Pioneer Sector Walk, 69 Tuas South Avenue 1,3 Tuas View Circuit, and 212 Woodlands Industrial Park E5.

Of the 753 new cases, 11 are infections picked up from among the community — nine are Singaporeans or permanent residents and two are work pass holders.

Three of the new cases are foreign workers residing outside the dormitories, and 739 are workers living in dormitories.

MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has dropped, from an average of 12 a day in the week before, to an average of 10 a day in the past week.

There were no imported cases reported on Saturday.

UPDATE ON CONFIRMED CASES

In all, 2,296 people have fully recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 256 discharged on Saturday.

There are 1,124 patients still in hospital. Of these, most are in stable condition or improving, and 23 are in critical condition under intensive care.

MOH said that 19,020 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
