SINGAPORE — A total of 83 hotels were awarded for their high standard of security at the annual Hotel Security Awards Presentation Ceremony held at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay earlier today (Oct 22).
Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mr Amrin Amin was the guest-of-honour at the event organised by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and Singapore Police Force (SPF).
Marking the 20th edition of the hotel category award, 10 hotels received the “Hotel Security Star Award” for receiving either the “Hotel Security Excellence Award” or the “Hotel Security Award” for 20 consecutive years.
Additionally, 18 individuals received the Special Mention Awards for their exceptional acts of honesty, bravery and vigilance.
Recounting the hotel attacks in Tunisia and Bangkok this year, Mr Albert Teo, President of the Singapore Hotel Association said: “Given that attacks can happen anytime and anywhere without warning, it is pertinent that none of us take Singapore’s high standard of safety and security for granted.”
“Instead, we must make it our duty to be vigilant and public spirited at all times — for nothing is too small a matter when it comes to safety and security.”
