9 new Covid-19 infections in Singapore, all imported

SINGAPORE — Singapore reported nine new cases of Covid-19 on Monday (Feb 15), all of which were imported. 

The cases had already been placed on stay-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a press release.

Of the nine imported cases:

• One is a Singapore permanent resident who returned from India.

  One is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

• One is a work pass holder who also arrived from the UAE.

• Two are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh and Indonesia, of whom one is a foreign domestic worker.

• Four cases are short-term visit pass holders. Three of them arrived from India and Nigeria to visit family members who are Singaporeans or permanent residents. The fourth arrived from Indonesia for a job placement.

UPDATE ON CONDITION OF CONFIRMED CASES

Meanwhile, the number of new cases in the community has increased from four cases in the week before to five in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has decreased from four cases in the week before to two in the past week.

The total number of infections in Singapore is now 59,809.

Of these, 59,641 have fully recovered from the infection, including the 20 discharged on Monday.

There are currently 36 patients who are still in hospital. Most of them are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Another 103 with mild symptoms, or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, are isolated at community facilities.

Twenty-nine people have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
