American stuntman’s death: Fourth suspect charged with murder
John Denley Nelson, the Universal Studios Singapore stuntman who was killed following a brawl that broke out in the wee hours of Christmas Eve at Boat Quay.
SINGAPORE — A day after three suspects were brought to court for murder with common intent yesterday (Jan 7), a fourth man previously accused of rioting in the same incident is now facing an amended charge of murder.
Mas Azlie Mohamed Salleh, 42, was on Friday accused of causing the death of John Denley Nelson at about 2.59am on Dec 24. His previous charge was one of rioting as part of an unlawful assembly. Three others — Muhd Khalis Ramlee, Muhd Izzuandy Yusof and Muhd Haziq Hashim — were charged with murder yesterday.
The sentence for murder is death or life imprisonment with caning.
Mr Nelson worked as a stuntman at Universal Studios Singapore. According to an online fundraising page to help Mr Nelson’s family with his medical bills, he was assaulted when he and a friend tried to stop a fight at a bar.
It said Mr Nelson was punched from behind, and he lost consciousness before he fell and hit his head on a concrete kerb. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
