SINGAPORE – Longer waiting times are “inevitable” during peak periods, and as such, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has advised Singaporeans to apply for a new passport early, ahead of the June holidays.

Travellers with less than six-months’ validity on their passports should apply for a new passport early, especially if they have upcoming travel plans for the June school holiday, which is typically a peak period.

To apply for a new passport:

New passports may be collected — usually within 7 days — at the ICA building or at designated post offices. Applicants who wish to collect from post offices, however, are subject to a SingPost service fee of S$6.50 for passport collection.

ICA also advised that e-appointments be made prior to collection. “Longer waiting time is expected if you (do) not make an appointment,” ICA said in a news release on Thursday (April 27). Appointments can be made either through the ICA website or the free mobile app eAPPT@ICA, which can be downloaded from the Apple store or Google Play store.
