Bukit Merah View market, bakery at Takashimaya among places where Covid-19 cases had been while infectious

SINGAPORE — A bakery located at the Takashimaya department store on Orchard Road as well as the Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre were added to a list of public places that had been visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period.

In its second update on the coronavirus situation on Thursday (June 10), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the infectious persons had been to:

• St Leaven bakery at Takashimaya’s basement level two from May 27 to 31 between 6.45am and 5pm as well as from June 3 to 6 between 6.45am and 5pm

• Woodlands Galaxy Community Club on May 31 between 6.35pm and 7.20pm

  115 Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre from June 6 to 9 between 6am and 2pm

MOH on Thursday said that a 74-year-old Singaporean man who works at a sundry shop at the Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre was among the two unlinked Covid-19 cases in the community.

A 40-year-old baker at St Leaven was confirmed infected on June 9.

MOH said that it would have already notified individuals who were identified as close contacts of the confirmed cases.

"As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit," it added.

"They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history."

Individuals may access the SafeEntry Location Matching Self-Check service via the TraceTogether mobile application, SingPass app, or at https://wereyouthere.safeentry.gov.sg to check whether they were at these locations during the specified timings, based on their own SafeEntry records.

Members of the public do not need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been, MOH said.

The National Environment Agency will engage the management of the affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.

On Thursday, MOH reported 13 new cases of Covid-19, four of which were in the community. The remaining nine were imported.
