Covid-19: 1,009 new locally transmitted cases; clusters found at Toa Payoh Market & Food Centre, 2 nursing homes and a preschool
The market and food centre at Toa Payoh Lorong 8 has a total of 41 cases.
SINGAPORE — Singapore on Sunday (Sept 19) recorded 1,009 new locally transmitted cases of Covid-19, with the market and food centre at Toa Payoh Lorong 8, two nursing homes and a preschool added to a list of active clusters under close monitoring.
Including three imported cases, there were 1,012 new coronavirus infections reported here, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update on the coronavirus situation.
Of the new clusters that have emerged, the one at the Toa Payoh market and food centre is the biggest with 41 cases in total.
The two nursing home clusters are Woodlands Care Home (total of 12 cases) and Windsor Convalescent Home (10). The coronavirus transmission at both homes involve residents and staff.
My Little Campus in Yishun has a total of 11 cases involving staff and students.
The 1,009 new locally transmitted cases comprise 919 community infections and 90 involving dormitory residents.
There were also three imported cases, bringing Sunday's total to 1,012 new infections.
Among the new local cases are 321 seniors aged above 60.
In all, Singapore has recorded 77,804 coronavirus cases since the pandemic struck.
PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL
A total of 873 Covid-19 cases are currently warded in hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.
The number of seriously ill patients who require oxygen support is 118, with 21 in critical condition in the intensive care units (ICU). Of those who have fallen very ill, 116 are seniors above 60 years old.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who had no or mild symptoms is 98.1 per cent. A total of 195 cases required oxygen support, 19 had been in the ICU and four died, of whom none was fully vaccinated.
VACCINATIONS
As of Sept 18, 82 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated, and 84 per cent has received at least one dose.
A total of 8,944,060 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna) have been administered, covering 4,574,522 individuals, with 4,449,437 people having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 183,202 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organisation’s Emergency Use Listing have been administered, covering 87,054 individuals.
