Covid-19: 2,356 new cases in Singapore; total number of cases since start of pandemic crosses 100,000 mark

SINGAPORE — A total of 2,356 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Singapore on Saturday (Oct 2), with 1,938 cases in the community, 412 in migrant worker dormitories and six that were imported.
This brings Singapore’s total number of coronavirus cases logged since the start of the pandemic last year to 101,786.
Among the new locally transmitted cases are 513 patients who are aged above 60, MOH said in its daily update on the coronavirus situation.
There are 1,422 patients who are in hospital, 66 more than the day before.
Of these, 243 patients require oxygen support to help them breathe, up from the 222 the previous day.
The number of patients under intensive care is now 31.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 233 are patients aged over 60.
Four more deaths were also reported on Saturday, bringing the tally to 107 so far.
MOH said that over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms is 98.2 per cent.
During the same period, 504 cases required oxygen aid and 53 had been warded in intensive care units.
Of these, 50.6 per cent were fully vaccinated and 49.4 per cent were not vaccinated or partially vaccinated.
Over the last 28 days, 49 people have died, of whom 26.5 per cent were fully vaccinated and 73.5 per cent were not vaccinated or partially vaccinated.
CLUSTERS UNDER MONITORING
Among large clusters that are being closely monitored by the ministry, 13 had new cases, with a total of 182 new infections added on Saturday.
Of the 13 clusters, nine are foreign worker dormitories.
VACCINATIONS
As of Oct 1, 82 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated, and 85 per cent has received at least one dose.
A total of 9,235,990 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech or Comirnaty and Moderna) have been administered.
So far, 4,594,688 people have received at least one dose of vaccine under the national vaccination programme, and 4,490,834 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen.
MOH added that to date, it has invited about 500,000 eligible seniors to receive their vaccine booster.
It said that 258,043 individuals have received their booster shots and another 102,000 have booked their appointments.
In addition, 200,358 doses of other vaccines such as Sinovac that are recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing have been administered, covering 102,915 individuals.
