SINGAPORE — The five Singaporeans who were on the coronavirus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship off Yokohama, Japan, have been allowed to disembark after completing a two-week quarantine on board.

The Singaporeans will stay in Japan for another 14 days before returning to Singapore, said a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson in a statement on Friday (Feb 21).

In line with Singapore's current public health protocol, the Singaporeans would have had to be quarantined here if they returned within 14 days from their date of disembarkation.

The five have been advised to monitor their health closely during this period, the spokesperson added.

There are 634 confirmed Covid-19 cases among the ship’s passengers as of Thursday and two of them have died.
