Covid-19: PM Lee warns public of fake email about virus situation

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has warned the public about a scam email claiming to be from his personal account that invites recipients to reply with their thoughts on the Covid-19 outbreak.
The phishing email is written in the guise of reassuring the public about the Covid-19 situation in Singapore.
In a statement posted to his Facebook page on Monday (March 30), Mr Lee said he had reported the incident to the police.
He cautioned the public against responding to the email and forwarding it to their friends and family.
He also urged recipients not to provide the sender with their personal information.
“These are unscrupulous characters trying to exploit the current crisis to dupe you. Be extra careful and stay safe online,” Mr Lee added.
