Covid-19: Singapore sends medical supplies to Myanmar to boost detection efforts

SINGAPORE — The Government has contributed medical supplies to Myanmar, following a request by the latter’s Ministry of Health and Sports, to help in the detection of Covid-19.
In a media statement on Wednesday (March 4), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that Singapore has sent 3,000 diagnostic tests and two polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines to Myanmar for the detection of the virus.
Ms Vanessa Chan, Singapore’s Ambassador to Myanmar, handed over the supplies to the director of the country’s national health laboratory Htay Htay Tin earlier on Wednesday at the Yangon International Airport.
Myanmar has no confirmed cases of Covid-19 as of Wednesday, but the country remains on alert for travellers entering the country.
In a press release by the country’s Health and Sports Ministry, reported by local media, travellers entering the country by air and sea will have to complete a health declaration card.
