Daily number of Covid-19 cases in S'pore hits new low of 11 — lowest since March 12
SINGAPORE — Singapore confirmed 11 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday (Sept 18) — the lowest number of daily new infections since March 12, when nine were detected then.
Of the 11, one is imported while one is a community case. The remaining nine are migrant workers staying in dormitories.
The Ministry of Health said in a press release that a majority of the cases — 10 in all — have no symptoms.
The one imported case is a 38-year-old work permit holder who arrived from India on Sept 6.
The woman was placed on a 14-day stay-home notice and tested positive while serving her notice at dedicated facilities.
The one case in the community is a 30-year-old Singaporean man who has no links to past infections or clusters.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of two cases a day in the week before to an average of one a day in the past week.
The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the past week.
Of the nine new cases involving migrant workers in dormitories, five had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases.
The remaining four were detected through surveillance testing, such as the Rostered Routine Testing and the testing of those with acute respiratory infection symptoms.
UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,543.
Of these, 57,071 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 32 on Friday.
There are still 38 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.
Another 407 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
