SINGAPORE: Drugs worth almost S$700,000, including 4.66kg of heroin and 6.25kg of cannabis, have been seized from a residential unit at Meyer Road, said the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Tuesday (Jul 30).
It came after a 64-year-old Singaporean man was arrested at the lift lobby of the private estate on Monday afternoon for suspected drug activities.
Officers then escorted him to his “hideout” - a unit within the estate - where about S$696,000 worth of drugs were seized, CNB said in a news release.
Apart from the cannabis and heroin, 437g of "Ice", 53g of "Ecstasy", nine Erimin-5 tablets and six bottles of methadone were also recovered.
“Investigations into the drug activities of the arrested suspect are ongoing,” said CNB.
Anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, or more than 250g of methamphetamine, or more than 500g of cannabis may face the mandatory death penalty.
