SINGAPORE — Gojek drivers will soon be able to enjoy a 20 per cent discount when they buy petrol at any of Esso’s 61 service stations across the island from April 1.

In a press release on Wednesday (March 13), the Indonesian ride-hailing firm said that the move is part of the company’s mission to lower its drivers’ operating costs and provide them with “better earnings stability”.

Gojek’s “active driver partners” — those who complete the most number of trips in a quarter — will enjoy additional fuel rebates of up to 12 per cent.

And as part of Gojek’s ongoing partnership with DBS, drivers who use DBS or POSB debit cards to pay for fuel at Esso will also receive additional rebates. Details of this scheme will be shared soon, said the company.

Earlier in February, Gojek announced an insurance scheme for drivers who have to take prolonged medical leave, which aims to help make up for their lost earnings.

Under the plan with Gigacover, all Gojek drivers will receive a standard earnings protection coverage of S$80 a day, for up to 21 days of medical leave and up to 84 days of hospitalisation leave.
