SINGAPORE — The People’s Action Party’s (PAP) Grace Fu will defend her seat in the Single-Member Constituency (SMC) Yuhua in the coming General Election.
Ms Fu has represented Yuhua since 2006, first as a Member of Parliament of Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC), and then as MP of Yuhua SMC from 2011.
Announcing her candidacy in a press release today (Aug 22), Ms Fu said: “Over the last 9 years, I have built a deep and strong bond with the Yuhua residents. I hope to be given the opportunity to continue serving the people here with sincerity and passion.”
Ms Fu has held the posts of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, as well as Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and for Foreign Affairs, since 2012.
Her first electoral contest was in the 2011 General Election, where Yuhua was first designated as an SMC carved out of Jurong GRC. She defeated Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Teo Soh Lung with 66.86 per cent of the votes.
