HDB launches new showflat gallery
SINGAPORE — The Housing and Development Board (HDB) launched its new showflat gallery this morning (Jan 28) after a five-month revamp.
Housed at the HDB Hub in Toa Payoh, My Nice Home Gallery is the first showcase of showflats for all five flat types.
Eco-friendly features and elderly-friendly fittings, such as grab bars and pull cords linked to an alarm system, have also been included in the showflats for the first time.
The three-, four- and five-room showflats also feature the open kitchen concept which HDB piloted in September 2012.
Said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan at this morning’s launch event: “(Many Singaporeans) would spend time research and planning their renovation, choosing the colour scheme, selecting the right furniture, transforming their HDB flats with very tasteful interior decor... As the standard of HDB’s interior climbs, HDB’s gallery has to move forward too.”
Designed in collaboration with interior designers and furniture manufacturers, the showflats feature furnishing ideas that give homeowners greater flexibility in customising their flats.
Minister Khaw also presented prizes to 15 winners of the My Nice Home photo contest held over December last year. HDB received 155 entries for the inaugural contest, which were judged based on creativity in their use of space, colour and cohesiveness.
The gallery is open from 8am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
