SINGAPORE — Taxpayers can file their taxes this year using their mobile phones via the myTax Portal, as one of several new features introduced by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras).

This year, SingPass 2FA authentication is required for filing tax returns or viewing tax bills. Iras on Wednesday (Feb 8) also reminded taxpayers to register and activate their SingPass 2FA by this month, to be ready to file their taxes when the filing season starts from March. Individuals have until Apr 18 to file their taxes. Those who have forgotten their SingPass password can reset the password online at www.singpass.gov.sg.

Taxpayers with an assessable income of $40,000 or less will receive their finalised tax bill — or notice of assessment — immediately upon filing their tax returns this year. For taxpayers on the Giro payment scheme, instalment payments will be based on actual tax payments instead of a provisional instalment plan. This provides taxpayers with greater certainty on their tax payments, Iras noted. The service will be rolled out progressively to other income bands.
