SINGAPORE — KidZania Singapore will be closing its facility permanently after four years of operations here, the company said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (June 16).

The edutainment centre located in Sentosa will not be reopening when circuit breaker measures and other social restrictions are lifted.

"We thank you for joining and helping us build a billion memories," the company said in its Facebook post, but did not disclose reasons for the closure.

TODAY has reached out to KidZania Singapore for comment.

When KidZania Singapore opened at Sentosa's Palawan Beach in April 2016, it was billed as an interactive indoor theme park for children. Since then, the company said it has had the "joy of entertaining and educating one million kids".

The Singapore theme park is one of KidZania's international franchises, which also includes locations in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Bangkok.

According to the company's website, all 29 of its facilities around the world are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, except for KidZania Korea and KidZania Japan.

Singapore’s multi-ministry task force for Covid-19 announced on Monday that Phase 2 of the circuit breaker exit will begin on June 19, with activities including dining in, tuition classes and sports being allowed to resume.

However, the task force said that the resumption of other activities — such as indoor and outdoor attractions — will take more time as these are activities or settings where large numbers of people are likely to come into close contact, often in enclosed spaces, and for prolonged periods of time.
